About Us
Where It Starts
Wooden Decor was founded in 2023 by three people who grew up in Vietnam, in families with long histories in woodworking, and later studied and worked in the United States. When they came back, they noticed the same thing every day: quality teak left over from furniture production, going to waste. Wood with exceptional grain, density, and character -- discarded.
They decided to build something from it.
Made in a Family Factory. On Purpose.
Our boards are produced in a family-owned factory in Vietnam with a woodworking heritage that goes back three decades. That was a deliberate choice.
A family factory is not a compromise. The workers know the material. Quality is not enforced from the outside -- it is understood from the inside. When something is not right, it gets fixed before it leaves, not after it arrives.
We designed every board -- the specifications, the tolerances, the finish standards. We work closely with the people who build them to make sure what reaches your kitchen is something we are genuinely proud of.
Why Recycled Teak
Every board starts with leftover teak from furniture production -- wood that would otherwise be discarded or burned. We source it, sort it by grain and density, and use the best pieces to make cutting boards built to last a decade.
Teak is not the obvious choice for a cutting board. It should be. Natural oils within the grain make it moisture-resistant, low-maintenance, and kinder to knife edges than bamboo or harder composites. It does not warp easily. It does not absorb odors. A well-used board develops a patina over time that a new board cannot replicate.
Sustainability Without the Language
We are not cutting down new trees. We are using wood that already exists -- selected from what furniture factories leave behind, shaped into something that lasts years rather than ending up in the ground.
No certifications to hide behind. We start with waste. We end with something worth keeping.
What We Stand For
Craftsmanship. Made in a family woodworking factory in Vietnam. Skilled workers, close oversight, quality that does not depend on the customer not noticing.
Sustainability. Recycled teak from furniture production. We use wood that would otherwise be wasted. That is not a campaign -- it is how we source everything.
Everyday use. These boards are built to be used. Chopped on, cooked with, gathered around. The teak improves with time, and so do the meals made on it.
What Comes Next
Cutting boards are where we started. We are building a brand that is honest about what it makes and how it makes it -- one that believes well-made objects deserve a place in everyday life, not a cupboard.
We are glad you found us.
